Description

Tiffen 4 x 5.65″ Linear Polarizer Filter effectively diminishes reflections and glare by filtering polarized light resulting from non-metallic surface reflections. When sunlight reflects off air molecules, it becomes partially polarized, creating a hazy effect. A linear polarizer aligns and filters this polarized light perpendicular to the reflected light, leading to the absorption of a significant portion of this light. This leads to a noticeable reduction in glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and enhances the saturation of skies and foliage.

It’s worth noting that a linear polarizer differs from a circular polarizer as it lacks an additional quarter-wave plane. The quarter-wave plane is added to circularly polarize linearly polarized light, making it compatible with auto-focus and exposure functions. However, using a linear polarizer can affect in-camera auto-focus and exposure accuracy since it filters light differently. When light becomes circularly polarized, it enables the use of these functions.
