Smarter Protection for Your Rentals

We understand that accidents happen, even to the most experienced filmmakers and content creators. That’s why we created Budget Care, BC Studios’ in-house paid protection and membership program designed to make renting easier, safer, and more flexible.

With Budget Care, eligible returning customers can skip the traditional security hold by paying a small protection fee equal to 20% of the first-day rental cost of their order. This fee covers accidental damage for the entire rental period, giving you peace of mind without the burden of large deposits or holds.

What is Budget Care?

Budget Care is more than just equipment protection. It’s a membership program for returning customers with a proven rental history.

  • Replaces high security holds and expensive third-party insurance with a simple, low-cost waiver

  • Provides production planning support, including consultation on crew sourcing, equipment selection, and production guidance tailored to your project

  • Limits maximum liability to 30% of repair or replacement costs if accidental damage occurs

How Budget Care Works

If an accident happens:

  1. Contact us and return the damaged equipment.

  2. Provide a brief, documented report describing the incident.

  3. We’ll handle repair or replacement.

Your total liability is capped at 30%, and you remain eligible for future rentals under Budget Care.

What Budget Care Covers

Accidental Damage Only
Covers unintentional damage during normal use, such as:

  • Dropped cameras during setup

  • Light stands tipped over on set

  • Scratches, dents, or impact damage during transport

Most lenses come with a UV filter to protect the front element. Minor surface wear is considered normal use, not damage.

What Budget Care Does Not Cover

  • Theft or loss

  • Electrical failures caused by user negligence (short-circuits, power surges, component burnout)

  • Water or sand damage

  • Intentional or reckless damage

  • Camera sensor damage from direct sunlight

  • Unsafe handling, e.g., using cameras underwater without approved housing or improper rigging

  • Equipment that cannot be returned

To become eligible for Budget Care, customers must meet the following requirements:

  1. Rental History: Have completed up to three rentals with Budget Camera.

  2. Good Standing: Maintain a positive rental history, including returning equipment on time, handling gear properly, and having no prior incidents of damage due to negligence.

No, it’s optional. However, it provides peace of mind and may eliminate the need for a security hold for qualified renters on orders below C$15,000 replacement value.

Intentional damage refers to harm caused deliberately to equipment, such as breaking a camera, tampering with gear, or using equipment in a way that is obviously unsafe.

20% of the first-day rental cost of your order. For example, if you rent a Nikon camera ($200/day) and a lens ($50/day) for three days (total rental cost: $750), your damage waiver will be $50, calculated from the total for the first day.

If an accident occurs, report it immediately with a documented incident report. Our team will guide you through the claim process. All claims are subject to approval.

Yes, as long as the equipment is used according to rental terms and can be returned safely.

Budget Care can be added during the booking or pickup process, whether online, in-store, or over the phone.

Budget Care does not cover theft or loss. In such cases, the renter is responsible according to the rental agreement.

Yes. Eligibility for Budget Care can be revoked if a customer violates the rental agreement, returns equipment late without communication, mishandles gear, or causes damage through negligence. Customers must maintain a positive rental history to continue using BudgetCare for future rentals.

Studio Terms

Use of space

  • Booking must be completed by adults only (18 years + If you are an adult and reserving the space for teen please ensure no alcohol is served or carried into the building.

  • The space must be returned to its original condition at the end of the session. This includes deep cleaning and garbage removal. If you require assistance with cleaning or disposing of production props or other waste, an additional fee will apply.

  • All forms of smoking. vaping and shisha are prohibited inside the property. Violating the smoking terms will result in immediate termination of the session with no refunds, and everyone must leave the building within 15 minutes; otherwise, local law enforcement will be contacted.

  • Dry ice. fog. and haze machines are allowed in the entire studio but must be monitored at all times.

  • Customers are responsible for any damages done by themselves or their guests during their session.

Capacity

  • The studio allows a maximum of 30 guests. Please stay within booked capacity; exceeding the booked number of guests inside the property will incur an added cost.

  • We reserve the right to end the session if the maximum capacity (30 guests) is exceeded.

Security deposit

  • A $750 security hold will be authorized on your credit card; this is not an actual charge. This will be deducted in the case of any required cleaning, repainting,  damages, exceeded capacity and time or other studio violations. If the incurred cost is above the security hold, the difference will be charged to your authorized card on file. or a recurring payment arrangement will be scheduled.

Pets

  • A $350 refundable security hold is required for bringing pets into the studio. This covers damages and muck, otherwise will be cancelled after your session. Please be sure to contact the studio beforehand.

Purolator Shipping

We have partnered with Purolator to ship select equipment rentals to customers within Ontario. This service is designed to offer filmmakers and video creators across the province more convenience, flexibility, and accessibility.

Important Note

Shipping is available for select items only, with a minimum rental period of 2 days. Contact us to learn which gear is eligible and to confirm shipping costs.

All shipping orders must be confirmed at least 3 business days before the rental start date.

Requirement

👤 First-Time Renters

First-time renters are required to complete a rental agreement form with a valid ID.

Independent insurance coverage is required for orders with a total replacement value above $15,000 CAD. Learn More

💳 Security Authorization

A small hold will be placed on your credit/debit card. The hold will be canceled upon the return of the rental.

BC Gear Delivery

We offer a convenient delivery service for all our rental gear within a 100km radius of our location. Our goal is to ensure you have everything you need on time and in perfect working condition.

Request: You can request delivery at any time during your reservation—in person, via email, or by phone.

Equipment Testing: All gear is thoroughly tested before delivery to ensure it’s fully functional and ready for use.

Inspection Upon Arrival: When the driver arrives, please inspect the equipment and verify the equipment list to ensure everything is in order.

Rental Requirements: To avoid cancellation, please ensure all rental processes and requirements are completed at least 2 hours before the scheduled delivery time. If not completed, the delivery will be canceled, and rental credit will be applied to your account.

Protection & Responsibility: We ensure all equipment is well-protected and safely transported. Once delivered, the client is responsible for any damage or issues that may arise while the equipment is in their possession.
